Frequently asked questions
Direct answers about what Finnass is, what we do with data, and what we don’t do. Educational tools only — not investment advice.
What is Finnass?
Finnass is a personal finance product for people in India: learn the basics, plan with calculators and FIRE tools, read calm market context, and track a household portfolio.
Who is Finnass for?
Indian working professionals and households building wealth. You do not need to be an experienced investor. The Guides start at personal-finance 101.
How can Finnass help me?
Understand your money, turn goals into numbers, read company and sector context without stock-tip noise, and track net worth, allocation, and FIRE progress over time.
Is Finnass only for people in India?
The product is built around Indian rupees, EPF / PPF / NPS, Indian tax rules, and Indian market notes. You can still log other holdings manually.
Is Finnass a financial advisory service?
No. Finnass is not a SEBI-registered adviser. Nothing on the site is personalised investment, tax, or legal advice.
Do I have to buy anything to use Finnass?
No. You can read Guides and Insights, use the calculators and FIRE tools, and try the demo without buying a product.
Does Finnass sell financial products?
No. Finnass does not sell mutual funds, insurance, loans, or other financial products. We are not a broker, bank, or AMC.
Does Finnass give investment advice?
No. Finnass is educational. Guides, Insights, calculators, and portfolio numbers are for understanding and planning: not a recommendation to buy or sell anything.
Will someone contact me to sell me something?
No. Finnass will not call, WhatsApp, or email you to sell funds, insurance, or loans.
What data does Finnass collect?
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture to create your session. Holdings, contributions, and FIRE inputs you type are stored so your dashboard can load. You can use Guides, Insights, calculators, and the demo without an account.
Does Finnass sell or share my data?
We do not sell your personal or portfolio data. We do not use your holdings for advertising. Google handles sign-in; hosting providers process data only as needed to run the app.
Do I need to connect my bank or brokerage account?
No. There is no bank or broker connection. You add EPF, PPF, NPS, mutual funds, equity, and other holdings yourself.
Does Finnass have access to my bank or brokerage account?
No. We cannot see your bank transactions or broker holdings unless you type them in yourself.
Where is my financial data stored?
Signed-in portfolio data is stored in our database so your account can load on any device. The public demo stays in your browser session and is not a real account.
Can I delete my data?
You can log out anytime. To request deletion of account data, contact the operator of this Finnass instance (see the Privacy Policy).
Can I use Finnass without creating an account?
Yes. Guides, Insights, calculators, FIRE, and the demo work without signing in. An account is only needed to save your own portfolio.
Will Finnass spam me?
No sales calls or WhatsApp. Email is for your account and messages you choose. The newsletter is opt-in on Guides and Insights, and you can unsubscribe.
Will I receive promotional emails?
Only if you subscribe to the newsletter. We do not buy lists or send product promotions to account emails.
Can I unsubscribe?
Yes. Newsletter emails include an unsubscribe path. Signing in does not subscribe you automatically.
Does Finnass use AI to analyse my financial data?
No. Finnass does not send your portfolio to an AI model and does not use AI to decide what you should buy or sell.
Does Finnass use my data to train AI models?
No. Your holdings and personal details are not used to train AI models.
Can AI make investment decisions for me?
No. There is no robo-adviser. You stay in control of every decision.
Does Finnass tell me what to buy or sell?
No. Insights and Guides explain how companies, sectors, and products work. They are not a buy or sell list.
Why do Insights discuss individual companies?
So you can understand what you already own — or might research — with context: what the business does, what changed, and the risks. That is not a tip.
Are calculator results guaranteed?
No. SIP, FIRE, tax, and salary figures are planning estimates from the assumptions you enter. Markets, tax rules, and payroll policies change.
Do I need an account?
Only to save a real portfolio. Everything public works without one.
How does the demo portfolio work?
The demo is sample data in your browser. It is not saved as an account. Sign in with Google when you want your own holdings.
Can I track EPF, PPF, NPS, mutual funds, and stocks?
Yes. Add them as holdings, log monthly contributions, and optionally enter current value. Tracking is manual.
Can I import my portfolio from a broker?
Not yet. v1 is manual entry only.
Are Finnass calculators free?
Yes. SIP, EMI, tax, salary, goals, home-loan + SIP, and FIRE are free.
What assumptions does the FIRE calculator use?
Corpus is roughly annual spend ÷ safe withdrawal rate (for example 4% ≈ 25×). You can change spend, SWR, inflation, and years. Pair it with FIRE Path for an illustrative SIP.
Why might numbers differ from my broker or another calculator?
Different compounding conventions, fees, tax treatment, and rounding. Treat Finnass as a planning sketch and verify against your statements.
Is Finnass free?
Yes. Guides, Insights, calculators, FIRE tools, the demo, and portfolio tracking are free today. If that changes, we will say what is free and what is not before you pay.
